Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The South West African mark was a temporary currency issued between 1916 after the withdrawal of the German South West African mark, and prior to the introduction of the South African pound in 1918. A number of issuers issued notes denominated in South West African marks and pfennig, especially the Swakopmund Bookshop. South West Africa had banknotes issued at various times between 1916 and 1959 while under South African administration. The issues of 1916-18 are denominated in South West African marks. The later issues are denominated in South West African pounds.
