Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Ouaddaï is one of the 22 regions of Chad and its capital is Abéché. It is composed by the former Ouaddaï Prefecture. Its main ethnic groups are the Arabs and the Maba. The economy is based on subsistence agriculture and breeding. The region's present governor is Mahmat Nimir Hamata, who in February 2006 took the place of Danyo Ndokédi. The country of Chad is currently divided into 22 régions. From independence in 1960 until 1999 it was divided into 14 préfectures. These were replaced in 1999 by 28 départements. The country was reorganized again in 2002 to produce 18 régions. In 2008, a further four régions were created, increasing the number to 22.
