The corrosion of carbon steel reinforcing bar (CSRB) in concrete is one of the most important reasons for the damaging the buildings and bridges, which lead to physical and economic, disasters, worldwide recorded.Although the chemical environment of concrete provides self-protection for CSRB due to the base properties of concrete, the conditions surrounding the concrete structure plays a role in the corrosion phenomenon and, thus its collapse. In this study, two types of CSRBs, available in the local Iraqi market, for building construction, which were imported from republic of Ukrainian and locally produced in Iraq, were subjected to corrosion experimental study using Tafel extrapolation method.
