Özet:
Following the expansion of Christianity in to the Lake Ţana region of Ethiopia in the fourteenth century, a large number of monasteries and churches were built in Lake Tana region. The monastery of Zegé, whose foundation is attributed to Saint Betre Maryam, was one of these monasteries. The monastery has served as the basis of administration, taxation and court arbitration in the socio-economic life of the people of Zege ,a peninsula located in Lake Tana to south west of Bahir dar town which is 565kms far from Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia. This book which deals on history of Zegie has three parts. The first part dedicated to the socio-political and cultural foundation of Zegie Peninsula focusing on monastic churches. The second part highlights the spiritual and political Administration in the Peninsula of Zegé(1902-1935).The third part is about socio-political and economic condition of Zegié Peninsula during and after the Italian Occupation to 1974.The last part gives a briefing about Zegié Peninsula during the period of the socialist Regime of Ethiopia(1974-1991)
