The West Coast Hockey Conference is an ACHA Division II club hockey league which began play on October 1, 2010. The conference is made up of six previously independent Division II hockey programs in California, Arizona and Nevada. Arizona State previously played in the Pacific 8 Intercollegiate Hockey Conference. Six teams competed in the first season in the conference's history. On April 16, 2011 it was announced UNLV was voted unanimously to become the 7th member of the conference.Each team plays the other six twice for a total of 12 conference games. The first game in conference history was played on October 1, 2010. Long Beach State defeated San Diego State 4-3 in San Diego. At the end of the regular season Arizona State was crowned the conference's first champion. For the conference's second season a playoff will be held to determine the champion.
