Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. A United States Naval Aviator is a qualified pilot in the United States Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard. Most Naval Aviators are Unrestricted Line Officers; however, a small number of Limited Duty Officers and Chief Warrant Officers are also trained as Naval Aviators.Until 1981 the US Navy and Marine Corps also had a small number of senior enlisted personnel trained as pilots. Such individuals were referred to as Naval Aviation Pilots or "NAPs." NAPs have a fraternity known as the Silver Eagles. The Naval Aviation Pilot insignia was identical in design to the Naval Aviator Insignia.
