Sentic computing is a multi-disciplinary approach to opinion mining and sentiment analysis that exploits both computer and social sciences to better recognize, interpret and process opinions and sentiments over the Web. Differently from keyword-based methods, sentic computing uses affective ontologies and common sense reasoning tools for a concept-level analysis of natural language text. In particular, the ensemble application of graph mining and multi-dimensionality reduction techniques is employed, together with a novel emotion categorization model, on an affective common sense knowledge base in order to infer the cognitive and affective information associated with natural language and, hence, to develop emotion-sensitive systems in fields such as human-computer interaction, e-health and social web.
