Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary (born 1946) is a former IPS officer, director-general of National Security Guards (NSG) and the Border Security Force (BSF), and the current Governor of Meghalaya state in India. He assumed office on July 1, 2008. Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary was born at Oldaguri in Kokrajhar district, now under the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts, of Assam. He completed his pre-university study in Union Christian College, Umiam and then graduated from St Anthonys College, Shillong with honours in Political Science. Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary became an IPS officer of the 1967 batch was allotted the Kerala cadre. He worked on important assignments in Kerala and early on in his career in 1981-82 was commissioner of police of the city of Cochin. Later he held the offices of Inspector General of Police and chief of Crime Branch CID and lastly Director general of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.
