Flumenthal is a municipality in the district of Lebern in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland.The Flumenthal dam was erected in the 1970s on river Aare during the Second Jura water correction in order to regulate the waters of the Seeland's three lakes hydrological system further downstream of the regulating dam Port.Flumenthal has an area, as of 2009, of 3.11 square kilometers (1.20 sq mi). Of this area, 1.52 km2 (0.59 sq mi) or 48.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.77 km2 (0.30 sq mi) or 24.8% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.61 km2 (0.24 sq mi) or 19.6% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.17 km2 (0.066 sq mi) or 5.5% is either rivers or lakes and 0.02 km2 (4.9 acres) or 0.6% is unproductive land.
