Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Lake Erçek is a salt lake in the Van Province, eastern part of Turkey. It is located at 38.672778°N 43.572778°E, close to Lake Van. Lake Erçek is located in the elevation of about 1,890 m. It has an area of 95.2 km² and maximum depth of 30 m. A salt lake or saline lake is a landlocked body of water which has a concentration of salts (mostly sodium chloride) and other minerals significantly higher than most lakes (often defined as at least three grams of salt per liter). In some cases, salt lakes have a higher concentration of salt than sea water, but such lakes would also be termed hypersaline lakes. A salt lake that has a high content of sodium salts, especially chlorides and sulphates, is sometimes termed a soda lake.
