Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The intervenous tubercle (tubercle of Lower) is a small projection on the posterior wall of the right atrium, above the fossa ovalis. It is distinct in the hearts of quadrupeds, but in man is scarcely visible. It was supposed by Lower to direct the blood from the superior vena cava toward the atrioventricular opening. In anatomy, the atrium (plural: atria), sometimes called auricle (although, in the technical sense, the auricle is a separate part of the main atria known as the atrial appendages), refers to a chamber or space.
