- This book deals with the study of “Varietal Evaluation of Medium Decorative Dahlia (Dahlia Variabilis L.) Under Subtropical Plains of West Bengal”. Dahlia is known as king of flowers and one of the most popular flowering plants grown in West Bengal, mainly during winter season. Dahlia valued for their gorgeous attractive spectacular flowers of varying colours and mainly grown for landscaping, garden display, pot culture, exhibition purpose, home decoration, beds and borders, flower arrangement, as cut flowers and as a loose flower. Hence, it is very much necessary to collect and evaluate all the available genotypes in order to select suitable and high yielding genotypes. As the performance of any crop depends on the climatic condition of the region where it is grown, therefore the present study was taken up to evaluate 15 cultivars of medium decorative dahlia to exploit its suitability as cut flower and for garden display, in terms of flower quality and flowering duration
