McElroy (born December 30, 1966) is an American director, actor, teacher and writer. McElroy, a Providence, Rhode Island native, graduated with a B.A. in Theatre Arts and English Literature from Brown University in 1988 and received his M.F.A. from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. In the late 1990s, McElroy was artistic director of Sensurround, Inc., where he directed Lynn Siefert's Coyote Ugly and Little Egypt as well as his own adaptation of Jean-Paul Sartre's The Flies.
