Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Owensboro Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of three counties in Kentucky, anchored by the city of Owensboro. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 109,875 In the 2010 Census the population was 114,752. Owensboro is more closely defined as a part of Kentuckiana than the neighboring Evansville Metropolitan Area even though at present all three counties are in Kentucky. The reason for this is that the primary city, Owensboro sits on the Ohio River directly across from Spencer County, Indiana, which is likely to become the fourth county in the metropolitan area.
