Lysenko (Ukrainian: Львівська національна музична академія ім. Миколи Лисенка, Russian: ЛНМА имени Николая Лысенко) is a state conservatory of Ukraine based in Lviv. The LNMA Mykola Lysenko traces its origins to earlier music institutions in Lviv, going back to the 19th century, when Franz Xaver Mozart created the Saint Cecilia Society. This by 1854 had become the Galician Music Society. Its first director was pianist and composer Karol Mikuli, a pupil of Chopin, and among teachers in different years were Ludwig Marek, Mieczysław Sołtys, Adam Sołtys, Vilém Kurz, Jan Gall, Wilhelm Stengel and others, with students including soprano Solomiya Krushelnytska, composer Denis Sichinskiy, tenor Alexander Mishuga, Vasyl Barvinsky, pianist Moritz Rosenthal, and others.
