Christopher Robert Wakeland (born June 15, 1975 in Huntington Beach, California) is a former professional baseball player who played Major League Baseball for the Detroit Tigers in 2001. Wakeland was drafted by the Tigers out of Oregon State University in the 15th round (431st overall) of the 1996 Major League Baseball Draft. Major League Baseball (MLB) is the highest level of professional baseball in the United States and Canada, consisting of teams that play in the National League and the American League. The two leagues merged in 2000 into a single MLB organization led by the Commissioner of Baseball after 100 years as separate legal entities.
