Water, sanitation and hygiene-related diseases are serious health problems and their prevention depends on optimal management of the living environment. Nowadays, a significant number of schools are located in communities where there is a high prevalence of diseases related to the lack of hygiene and sanitation. This is the case of the public elementary school in the commune of Zè that are the subject of this study. Our study revealed that 52.63% of the 95 schools have a water source and that hand washing facilities exist in 30 schools, a percentage of 31.6%. The presence of urinals is noted in only 25.26% of schools. All the schools have toilets, but only 19% of them comply with the UNICEF recommendation on gender equality. These results show that the water, hygiene and sanitation infrastructure in the schools of the commune of Zè does not meet standard norms.
