In this book Dr. Murage deals with the Agĩkũyũ concept of Ũtugi which is closely connected to the notion of Christian spirituality and its understanding of hospitality. In the light of an assessment of the ecclesial praxis of the Anglican Church in Central Kenya within the HIV and AIDS pandemic, and the notion of cultural stigmatisation, the Ũtugi concept is critically assessed. In the book, Murage argues that Ũtugi can be applied to create a healing space and even reframe the existing ecclesiological paradigms practised by the church. In the quest for healing in Africa, he proposes an existential model for spiritual healing in order to deal appropriately with the existential threats of anxiety, guilt, shame, disillusionment, anger, despair and doubt experienced by the People Living with HIV and AIDS in Africa.
