Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Works Everywhere Appliance (shortly WE Appliance) was a Linux device manufactured by Koolu. The appliance was based on FIC ION A603 mini PC (like Linutop 2) and came preloaded with Ubuntu. Linux-based devices or Linux devices are computer appliances that are powered by the Linux operating system kernel. They are often minimalistic and purpose-built, thus may be environmentally friendly and create less electronic waste per unit. Linux devices are built to run Linux by their manufacturers. This reduces their initial development, on-going support costs and usually aids in time to market. The reasons of using Linux may be various - low cost, security, stability, scalability or customizability. Many original equipment manufacturers use free and open source software to brand their products. Community maintained Linux devices are also available.
