Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Narumi Takahashi began skating at age five. She was originally a single skater. She is a Japanese novice bronze medalist in singles. She lived in China for a time because her father was transferred there on business. While in China, she competed with partner Gao Yu, with whom she placed 6th at the 2004 Chinese Figure Skating Championships on the senior level. After looking in Japan for a new pairs partner, she approached coach Richard Gauthier to find her one in Canada. He found Mervin Tran, who had until that point been a single skater. Takahashi and Tran began their partnership in July, 2007. They made their international debut on the 2007–2008 ISU Junior Grand Prix, where they placed 12th and 6th at their events. They won the Japan Junior Figure Skating Championships and earned a trip to the 2008 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, where they placed 15th.
