News stories or better to say political discourses are among those linguistic materials that more than other textual materials undergo the impact of factors such as ideology and power. The problem arises when the translator is not aware of ongoing motives embedded in any kinds of such discourses and falls short of discovering different predefined goals through the very process of translation and is satisfied just to represents linguistic substitutions. The corpus of the present study consisted of some pieces of English news stories in worldwide news agencies (namely, Reuters, Washington Post, New York Post, and Forbes) about Iran’s nuclear program and some other pieces of news about ongoing international issues and their corresponding Persian translations. Results of the study showed that ideology and power relations are significant stimuli which can control and direct the purpose of the news stories being translated from English to Persian and impose their impact in a desired way to render the content for target audiences.
