Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani - Goa Campus (Hindi: बिरला प्रौद्योगिकी एवं विज्ञान संस्थान पिलानी- गोवा परिसर)(also referred to as BITS Pilani Goa Campus or BPGC) is a campus of BITS Pilani. The Institute is privately supported and fully residential.The institute was started in 2004 by BITS Pilani in response to the increasing number of students opting for engineering education in India. The campus, located in Goa on the banks of the Zuari River, close to the industrial sprawl of Zuari Industries, currently houses around 2600 students and was formally inaugurated on May 5, 2006 by the Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh.On the demise of the Chancellor, Krishna Kumar Birla, in August 2008, the campus was rechristened as Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani - K. K. Birla Goa Campus in his memory; and the official event in this interest took place on 21st April 2011, with the formal ceremony being carried out by Rahul Gandhi.The Campus held its first ever convocation ceremony in August 2011, when 580 graduates from the various disciplines were awarded their degrees.
