Rajaküla is a village in Mäetaguse Parish, Ida-Viru County in northeastern Estonia. Mäetaguse Parish (Estonian: Mäetaguse vald) is an Estonian municipality located in Ida-Viru County. It has a population of 1,556 (2005) and an area of 285 km² (110 mi²). Ida-Viru County, or Ida-Virumaa, is one of 15 counties of Estonia. It is the most north-eastern part of the country. The county contains large deposits of oil shale - the main mineral mined in Estonia. As oil shale is used in thermal power plants, the earth in Ida-Viru literally holds the largest power capacity in Estonia.
