Organizations,in times past,have dreaded the entire concept of channeling hard earned profits into training employees.The main reason behind this is the fear of watching the employees exit the organization with the newly-acquired skills only to take up more lucrative jobs elsewhere.This notwithstanding,research has shown that organizations that hailed training as a core organizational strategy and spent their financial resources on the most valuable resource of the organization,that's the human resource,have succeeded in growing their human capital and also promoting retention throughout the organization.It's obvious that a well-designed training program grants employees the opportunity to acquire knowledge,skills in new areas while honing skills that they already possessed,and exhibiting the right attitudinal change to buttress their expertise.Basically,as employees are empowered,they develop greater self-worth,which contributes to greater productivity and consequent profitability.Employee turnover is reduced through training,which is a bridge leading to job satisfaction,organizational commitment,job involvement and ultimately a higher retention rate in contemporary organizations.
