Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Oxford is a town in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, Canada 32 km (20 mi) east of Amherst. The town is directly serviced by Routes 104, 204, 301, and 321. Oxford was founded in 1791 by settler Ashton Rushton. The name "Oxford" is derived from the shallow river that was used to enter Oxford. Early settlers often found it easy to use Oxen to cross, or "ford", the river, and thus the town's name was born.
