Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. IEEE Standard 1801-2009 is a design standard for electronics that provides for the description of the "power intent" of the design. The IEEE Standards Activity Board approved it with a publication date of 2009-03-27. The text title of the standard is "IEEE Standard for Design and Verification of Low Power Integrated Circuits".This standard was developed by the IEEE P1801 working group; background to the development and their objectives for future work are in that article. The stardard describels extensions to the Tool Control Language (tcl) in a combination of commands and arguments to the commands for anotating a Design hierarchy which has been read into a tool. Sematics for inferring additional elements in the design from the intent are provided in the standard. Digital designers, IP Block providers, Physical Designers, and Verification engineers make use of this standard language to communicate their design intent and implementation with respect to the variable power of an electronic system.
