Blurb/Shorttext:
Creativity plays important role in arts, science and in everyday life. For decades psychologists in this field mostly focused on personality traits correlating with creativity, but at the end of the 20th Century it became accepted again, that in order to understand the complexity of human personality and experiences it is more useful to study them in a life historical context. From the 2000's one can see the revival of psychobiography, a method that was invented by Sigmund Freud and improved by outstanding psychologists like Allport, Murray or Erikson in the 20th Century. Psychobiography is the systematic psychological investigation of significant persons' life history and life-work to find meaningful interrelations between experiences, personality and creativity. This book contains a historical, theoretical and methodological introduction to this approach and presents some exciting examples of application including the psychobiographies of Salvador Dalí or C. G. Jung. The volume is useful to psychologists, researchers, students or any reader who is interested in the psychology of arts, science or creativity, or want to recognize the personal background of some eminent creators.
