Handra Rocha, known as Fotolucida behind the lens, is a contemporary, portrait and self-portrait photographer. “I am Originally from Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico and I am 31 years old. I am self-taught self-portrait photographer for more than 14 years now. I learned everything I know from books, internet and by practising a lot. At the beginning the self-portrait photography was like a therapy for me, as a game. A game that makes you forget this world and discover a new one, creating your own reality. Currently I make a living from photography. I keep learning and I am passionate about what I do. I communicate with the world through photography. Nature has a big impact in my work. The landscape and the magic of natural light helps me convey emotions and tell stories. Music is another source of inspiration for me; it gives me energy to create. It is necessary for me to experience the creation process. The self-portrait for me is a tool for introspection, transformation and self-discovery. When I am creating, I need to feel the flow and to do it from within, I need to connect with the most profound part of me. Because in order to create from the source, you need to disconnect yourself from outside.”
