Wang Yuanji (217–268), formally Empress Wenming (literally: "civil and understanding empress") was an empress dowager during the Jin Dynasty period of Chinese history. She was the wife of Sima Zhao, regent of the state of Cao Wei during the Three Kingdoms period. She was also the mother of Sima Yan, the founding emperor of the Jin Dynasty. Wang Yuanji was born into a scholarly family by her grandfather Wang Lang who was an official in Wei.
