Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Ronald Joseph Ryan (21 February 1925 - 3 February 1967) was the last person to be legally executed in Australia. Ryan was found guilty of shooting and killing prison officer George Hodson during a prison escape from Pentridge Prison, Victoria in 1965. The hanging of Ryan sparked some of the biggest public protests ever seen in the history of Australia and led to the subsequent abolition of the death penalty in Australia.
