Development of a vaccine for trypanosomiasis has been challenged by the presence of antigenic variation in trypanosomes. This work circumvents the challenge of antigenic variation by using alternative vaccine targets wwhich are conserved . Here the serine ooligopeptidase protein of trypanasomes is used as a possible protein for use in deveopment of a vaccine for trypanosomiasis. The results show that the oligopeptidase B has a potenntial for protection but this needs further confirmation by using the protein in association with other potential vaccine targets.
