The Sentinel Building, on Centralia, Illinois' East Broadway, has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since the spring of 1978. The building is one of six properties in Marion County listed on the Register. Some of the others include the William Jennings Bryan Boyhood Home, in Salem, the Badollet House, also in Salem, and the Illinois Central Railroad Water Tower and Pump House, in Kinmundy. Centralia is a town located in Marion, Washington, Clinton, and Jefferson Counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population was 13,032 at the 2010 census. The town was founded because it was the point where the two original branches of the Illinois Central Railroad, built in 1853, converged. The town is named for the railroad.
