He was the son of Quintus Tineius Sacerdos Clemens and wife. He was Consul Suffectus I from March to an unknown month 192, Governor of Bithynia et Pontus, Proconsul of Asia sometime between 200 and 210, and Consul Ordinarius II in 219 joint with Emperor Elagabalus. His brothers were Quintus Tineius Rufus and Quintus Tineius Clemens.
