Ixpantepec Nieves is a town and municipality in Oaxaca in south-western Mexico. The municipality covers an area of 93.14 km². It is part of the Silacayoapam District in the Mixteca Region. As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 1371. The name Ixpantepec Nieves comes from two native words, Ixpan which means at the front, or surface, and Tepetl which means hill. Those two words together mean " The surface hill, or the hill at the front".
