The modern political facet has become an interconnected world where state-building is through diplomatic relations at regional and global level. The Southern African Development Community is a region that is lagging behind in development in greater portion than its successes. This paper will engage a research study to examine the political economy of SADC using the paradigm of a developmental state. This concept has inspired this research paper which aims at the extension of the concept of developmental state into a regional framework. In the goal of attempting the socio-economic challenges facing SADC; the extension of the developmental state paradigm will be intended for the Political Economy context ahead of the SADC mandate which is the central task of this research paper.
