Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Elmo Alexander Plaskett (June 27, 1938 – November 2, 1998) was a catcher in Major League Baseball. He was born in Frederiksted, United States Virgin Islands, and died in Christiansted. The Pittsburgh Pirates signed him as a free agent in 1957. He played for the Pirates in 1962 and 1963. Catcher is a position for a baseball or softball player. When a batter takes his turn to hit, the catcher crouches behind home plate, in front of the umpire, and receives the ball from the pitcher. This is a catcher's primary duty, but he is also called upon to master many other skills in order to field his position well. The role of the catcher is similar to that of the wicket-keeper in cricket.
