Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Civil and Public Services Union (CPSU), is an Irish trade union for clerical and administrative grades in the civil service, the wider public sector and the private sector. It is a member of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions. The union was founded in 1922 by the Dublin branch of the Civil Service Clerical Association. A trade union or labor union is an organization of workers that have banded together to achieve common goals such as better working conditions. The trade union, through its leadership, bargains with the employer on behalf of union members and negotiates labour contracts with employers. This may include the negotiation of wages, work rules, complaint procedures, rules governing hiring, firing and promotion of workers, benefits, workplace safety and policies. The agreements negotiated by the union leaders are binding on the rank and file members and the employer and in some cases on other non-member workers
