Rhodnius nasutus is a Chagas disease vector native to the northeast of Brazil. It is primarily associated with the Copernicia prunifera palm tree (Carnauba). In 2006 and 2007, the species was documented to use Licania rigida trees (Oiticica) in suburban areas of Jaguaruana, Ceará. Copernicia prunifera or the carnauba palm or carnaubeira palm is a species of palm tree native to northeastern Brazil. Taxonomically it belongs to the subfamily Coryphoideae, tribe Corypheae, subtribe Livistoninae. It is the source of carnauba wax, which is harvested from the coating on the leaves of the tree.
