It lies 17 kilometres (11 mi) east of Chełmno and 33 km (21 mi) north of Toruń. The village has a population of 410. Its seat is the village of Lisewo, which lies approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) south-east of Chełmno and 30 km (19 mi) north of Toruń. The gmina covers an area of 86.2 square kilometres (33.3 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 5,259. The Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship (also known as Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province, or by its Polish name of województwo kujawsko-pomorskie [vɔjɛˈvut͡stfɔ kuˈjafskɔ pɔˈmɔrskʲɛ] or simply Kujawsko-Pomorskie) is one of the 16 voivodeships (provinces) into which Poland is now divided. It is situated in mid-northern Poland, on the boundary between the two historic regions from which it takes its name: Kuyavia (Polish: Kujawy) and Pomerania (Polish: Pomorze).
