This study scrutinizes various voice disorders, especially the ones that occur most frequently among teachers and other people who use their voice excessively in their occupations. The pathologies of phonation apparatus are illustrated in an overall classification together with their causes and suggested treatment for some of the voice disorders. Therefore, the book focuses on the anatomy and physiology of vocal organs with a special emphasis on the description of larynx and vocal folds. Furthermore,the process of speech production involving phonation and modulation of individual speech sounds is examined in more detail. The outcome of the pilot study is a user friendly handout giving advice on voice hygiene and care. It might serve as a useful guide for protecting one´s voice and consequently avoiding possible voice disorders.
