Michel Miguel Elias Temer Lulia (born September 23, 1940), better known as Michel Temer, is a Brazilian lawyer and politician, and currently the Vice-President of Brazil after winning on the ticket of Workers' Party candidate Dilma Rousseff. He previously served for six consecutive terms as Federal Deputy for the state of São Paulo in the Chamber of Deputies, and presided over the Chamber for the 2009-2010 biennium. He had previously been appointed President of the Chamber for a two-year term in 1997, and again in 1999. Temer was a member of the 1988 National Constituent Assembly, which promulgated the current Constitution of Brazil. He is the President of the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party, although he is currently suspended from the office to comply with Brazilian Law and to carry out his duties as Vice-President.
