The area of the district is 43,800 square kilometers. Its administrative center is the town of Kirensk. Population: 20,335; 23,830; 29,280. The town of Kirensk serves as the administrative center of the district although is not administratively a part of it and is, along with nine rural localities, incorporated separately. Municipally, however, Kirensk, along with nine rural localities, is incorporated within Kirensky Municipal District as Kirenskoye Urban Settlement.
