19 districts of Bangladesh, containing 28% of the country’s population and covering 32% of its landmass, including the unique and diverse Sundarban Reserved Forest ecosystem, is facing direct threats from coastal flooding. The changing climate predictions for the current century indicate that the future will bring intense flood events upon Bangladesh’s coastal region. In light of this, the necessity for a coastal flood adaptation strategy that incorporates current and future climate variability becomes immediate. This work aims to provide adaptation measures and strategies, for the coastal areas of Bangladesh, which may be pursued to alleviate the imminent threat from such coastal floods in the upcoming years.
