Blurb/Shorttext:
The book, entitled "Ibsen Studies" focuses upon the critical evaluation of Henrik Ibsen and his literary writing in many respects. To write this book, the author selected the three major plays by Ibsen, including A Doll's House, Ghosts, and An Enemy of the People. The aim of the author is to investigate the empowerment of women in the light of Ibsen's attitudes and his critics. In this book, he has tried to highlight the social problems of 19th-century Scandinavia and its impact on human life the world around. Ibsen's major play, A Doll's House, shows a social picture of the age through a powerful woman character, Nora, the representative of feminism for all ages. Through Nora, Ibsen would like to show the then situation of women. In the play, Ghosts, the playwright has wanted to draw a light on power and sexuality through men and women of the age. Ibsen tries to clarify the gender discrimination of the age. And, in the play, An Enemy of the People, Ibsen has presented a revolutionary spirits of human life through the male protagonist. Anyway, Ibsen's plays are the basic symbol of feminism and social images for all times.
